(Halifax, NS) – Back for its twenty-third year, the 2018 edition of the Ha!ifax ComedyFest runs from April 25 until April 28, and features 31 comedians at venues throughout the city.
New this year, shows in Dartmouth, Bedford and Clayton Park, along with the toe-curling, hair-straightening Nasty Show at Casino Nova Scotia
On Friday, April 27 festival fans can find Montes Comedy Power Hour at Montes Showbar Grill in Waverly, while Brewster’s Pub in Bedford will host Comedy Brew Ha!Ha!. Saturday, April 28 will feature LMAO @ Lower Deck Bar & Grill in Clayton Park and the Nasty Show at the Schooner Showroom at Casino Nova Scotia.
The festival features comedians from Canada and around the world, including internationally renowned performers Tom Papa, Jeremy Hotz, and Greg Proops.
With more than 20 years in stand-up, Tom Papa is one of the top comedic voices in North America in film, television, radio, podcasts as well as on the live stage. He is a regular on the Late Show with Stephen Colbert and Conan. Tom is host of the hit podcast and SiriusXM show, Come to Papa, a weekly, hour-long show featuring Tom exploring the funny side of life, occasionally with guests like Mel Brooks, Ray Romano, Carl Reiner and Jerry Seinfeld. Tom appears at the Gala of Laughs Finale on Saturday, April 28 at the Spatz Theatre.
After a last minute cancellation last year due breaking his arm and shoulder in a bad fall, Jeremy Hotz returns to Halifax and appears at the Gala of Laughs on Friday, April 27 at the Spatz Theatre. One of the most unique stand-up comics working today, Jeremy’s quirky, confused observational comedy brings down the house each time he takes the stage.
Greg Proops is one of North America’s most prolific comedians with a weekly award winning live podcast The Smartest Man in the World, best known for his appearance on the TV improve show Whose Line is it Anyway? Greg has lent his voice to major movies such as Star Wars the Phantom Menace and The Nightmare Before Christmas. Greg will be appearing at the Opening Gala on Wednesday, April 25 at the Casino Nova Scotia and Friday, April 27 at Gala Finale at the Spatz Theatre. He will also be hosting his podcast, The Smartest Man in the World, on Thursday, April 26 at the Carleton Bar and Grill.
